1. Physiotherapy - Exercise for Women
Objective
To develop clinical competence in assessment and prescription of exercise for the prevention and management of disease conditions in the female adult population.
Course Contents
- Physiotherapy assessment and prescription of exercise for the prevention and management of disease conditions in the female population
- Attach to antenatal and postnatal classes, aqua fitness, bone building exercise class, weight reduction management
- Physiology of exercise for various women group
- Prescription of exercise and training in antenatal, postnatal and menopausal women
- Bone building assessment
- Weight reduction assessment
- Stages of pregnancy
Method
Hands-on training, Observation, Case studies
Pre-requisite
Undergraduate Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy with at least 1 year working experience in women’s health. Vaccinated against Hepatitis B and Chicken Pox/ Rubella.
Duration
From four to eight weeks. Full day course
Certification
Letter of Training Completion will be given to participants at the end of the training.

2. Physiotherapy - Incontinence Management & Pelvic Floor Muscle Rehabilitation
Objective
To develop clinical competency in assessment and management of adults with problems of stress incontinence, urge incontinence, faecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse or bladder instability.

- Attachment to PTA, PTSTIM & UG clinic
- Incontinence Assessment
- Pelvic Floor Muscle Assessment
- Bladder function Assessment
- Urodynamic Observation
- Pelvic floor muscle exercise prescription and training
- Bladder Retraining

- Electrical Stimulation

3. Physiotherapy - Paediatrics (Neurology)
Objective
To develop clinical competence in assessment and treatment of children with neurological conditions.
Course Contents
- Attachment to Rehabilitation Outpatient Physiotherapy, Peadiatric Inpatient wards and Special Care Nursery.
- Early intervention for premature and at risk infants
- Introduction to standardized assessments
- Facilitation of gross motor milestones
- Expose to different therapeutic management technique such as NDT, inhibitory/serial casting technique.
- Pre/Post botox assessment and therapy, pre/post Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy assessment and therapy
- Strength training for neurological weakness
- Use of neuromuscular electrical stimulation
- Hydrotherapy: Pool based exercise programme for strength, endurance and balance training
- Visual and auditory stimulation
- Positioning to enhance neuro development

4. Physiotherapy - Paediatrics (Respiratory)
Objective
To develop clinical competence in assessment and treatment of children with respiratory conditions in intensive care and general paediatric wards.
Course Contents
- Physiotherapy assessment and treatment children with respiratory conditions
- Attached to Children’s Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Special Care Nursery and Peadiatric Inpatient wards.
- Respiratory physiotherapy management of infants and children post cardiac, thoracic, abdominal surgery.
- Physiology of respiration in infants and children
- Use of adjuncts such as Inspiratory Muscle Trainer and Incentive Spirometry

5. Speech-Language Therapy - Paediatric Dysphagia
Objective
To develop basic level of clinical competence in assessment and management of Paediatric feeding and swallowing disorders.
Course Contents
- Observation of outpatient and inpatient feeding services including multidisciplinary feeding clinic, videofluoroscopy, homecare clinic, neurorehabilitation clinic
- Hands-on experience with supervision in the areas of outpatient feeding cases
- Tutorial and study sessions in the core knowledge of anatomy and physiology of feeding/ swallowing, assessment and therapy techniques and multidisciplinary management of feeding/ swallowing disorders.

Speech-Language Therapists working with babies and children with feeding difficulties
