Clinical attachment In Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing
Description
Dept of Neonatology is divided into Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 24 cots and Special Care Nursery (SCN) with 60 cots. NICU admits level 3 babies whilst SCN admits level 2 babies.

The attachment provide the nurse with opportunities to gain knowledge and skills in the current nursing practice and services as well as clinical hands-on in Neonatal Intensive Nursing. The experience will enable the nurse to plan and manage a similar unit in her country. |
Entry Criteria
- Registered Nurse with one year experience in Neonatal Nursing
- Temporary registration with Singapore Nursing Board
- Proficiency in English
Expected learning / learning objectives
On completion, the trainee will be able to:
- Discuss the role of the nurse in Neonatal nursing
- Discuss the nursing care of well and sick neonates
- Discuss infection control in a hospital
- Discuss the role of the Nurse Manager in the Neonatal Department
