Training in Paediatric Infectious Disease

Objective

Independent decision making for Infectious Disease problems. Ability to search and apply latest literature and evidence-based medicine. Interpret laboratory results in Infectious Disease.

Course Contents

New inpatient referrals to ID service, follow-up of ID referrals. Infection Control Training is included.

On the job training, formal lectures and journal club

For Whom

Paediatricians who aspire to sub-specialise in Paediatric Infectious Disease

Pre-requisite

Masters in paediatrics

Duration

From three months to  two years observership or hand-on training is available

Training Dates/Period

From January to December for one year or from July to December for six months

Certification

Certificate of fellowship at the end of the attachment

One position available

Course Fee

Hands-on fellowship:
Administration & Processing Fee: SGD$150
Fellowship Fees: SGD$500 to SGD$1000/month

For hands-on fellowship, Singapore Medical Council (SMC) registration and medical indemnity coverage are required.
SMC Application Fees: SGD$180 (approximate, correct as of January 2009)
Indemnity Coverage (by MPS): SGD$490 (approximate, correct as of January 2009)

Non hands-on fellowship (Observer):
Administration & Processing Fee: SGD$50
Fellowship Fees: SGD$500/month

Funding

Candidates should be self-funded or have funding from external sources/institutions.
