1) Attachment programme in Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)

Description

To provide an opportunity for pharmacists to increase their knowledge and expertise Total Parenteral Nutrition in the Laboratory in KKH.

Duration

2 weeks


Entry Criteria

  • Practising pharmacist

Expected Learning / Learning Objectives

On completion, the trainee will:

  • Know the importance of Aseptic dispensing and applying its concepts
  • Be confident to do actual preparation of TPN using an automated compounder and be able to demonstrate the proper validation procedure.
  • To understand the different nutritional needs of the neonates, paediatric and adult patients
  • Understand the preparation of extemporaneous preparations
  • Understand the concept of central line drug delivery system for the neonates
  • Understand the concept of calcium phosphate compatibility, and IV-TPN compatibility

2) Clinical Attachment Programme in Oncology

Description

To provide an opportunity for pharmacists to increase their knowledge and expertise in Paediatric and Gynaecologic Oncology in KKH.

Duration

5 weeks


Entry Criteria

  • Practising pharmacist

Expected Learning / Learning Objectives

On completion, the trainee will:

  • Be exposed and equipped with an understanding of Paediatric Oncology (ALL) and Gynecologic Oncology (Ovarian Cancer)
  • Understand the concept of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) and related complications
  • Be exposed and trained in the clinical role and duties of a Clinical Oncology Pharmacist.
  • Be trained to develop an understanding and knowledge of Oncology drugs
  • Be trained to understand and be able to apply the concept of safe handling and disposal of cytotoxic drugs
