The Special Care Nursery (SCN) provides step-down care for babies discharged from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). It also takes care of newborn babies, including low birth weight babies, requiring close monitoring and observation with some medical intervention.
At any time, if necessary, the staff at the SCN can provide immediate resuscitative care before the baby is transferred to the NICU.
With 60 cots, it is the largest unit in the region providing such specialised care. | |

| The SCN staff are also involved in education for parents of premature babies, parent support and bereavement activities. |
