The Paediatric Infectious Diseases Service is the only one of its kind in Singapore.
The Service works closely as a team with microbiologists and infection control nurses in providing medical care for our patients. It sees referrals across disciplines - including referrals from paediatric oncology, neonatology, intensive care and paediatric surgery.
The Service is the only centre that provides specialised medical care for HIV-infected children in Singapore. In addition, it also runs the paediatric clinic for tuberculosis at the Tuberculosis Control Unit at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
We also provide infectious diseases input into various national and hospital task force committees - outbreak response, bio-warfare surveillance, hand-foot-mouth disease, AIDS, SARS, infection control and Pharmacy & Therapeutics.
The Children's Travel Clinic offers comprehensive travel advice and vaccination programme for families and their children who are going for overseas travel.
We currently strive to improve our training programme for infectious diseases fellows and trainees. This includes attachments to microbiology diagnostic laboratories and Bone Marrow Transplant wards.
