KK Hospital became a dedicated Women's and Children's Hospital in May 1997 when the Paediatric Medicine Departments of Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, together with the Department of Paediatric Surgery from SGH, were centralised. Today, they are housed in Singapore's first and only purpose-built Children's Hospital.
