The unit works in collaboration with the Division of O&G and the Department of Paediatric Surgery to enhance Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) services and techniques including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.

Range of Services:

• Laparoscopic procedures:
  • for benign pelvic masses, removal of uterine, fibroids, ovarian cysts
  • for incontinence surgery in collaboration with Urogynaecology Unit
  • for selected malignant conditions in collaboration with the Gynaecological Oncology Unit
• Hysteroscopic procedures
  • therapeutic procedures including the removal of fibroids, septum
  • outpatient procedures; office hysteroscopy e.g. hysteroscopic sterilisation with Essure, endometrial ablation etc.
• Counselling and support services for patients undergoing minimally invasive surgical procedures
• Training endoscopic surgeons and nurses
• Tertiary level referral centre and providing consultation services to intra- and inter-hospital referrals from clinicians and surgeons
• Maintain a fellowship programme to train gynaecologists, from the Asia-Pacific region, in endoscopic surgery
• Research and development of MIS techniques and instrumentation
