Medical Social Work
As a provider of holistic care for women and children, we believe in empowering our patients and their families to actualise their full potential. Our Medical Social Workers extend this philosophy through their multi-faceted roles as counsellors, facilitators and advocators.
Range of Services:
We provide the following services for our patients and their families
- Counselling
- Patients with emotional, relationship and marital problems
- Patients who are anxious over their illness / treatment (e.g. cancer treatment) or undergoing losses
- Support to parents and counselling on parenting matters
- Crisis Intervention
- Deal with trauma cases such as sexual assault, spousal violence, child abuse and attempted suicide
- Investigation
- Investigate cases of reported NAI (Non-Accidental Injuries) and possible neglect
- Financial Assistance
- Assist needy patients with their medical expenses
- Assess and make appropriate referrals to organisations, VWOs (Voluntary Welfare Organisations), FSCs (Family Service Centre) and MCYS (Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports) for various financial and social support
- Networking
- Network with MCYS, FSCs, Police and other relevant organizations to obtain community support for patient
- Support groups/programmes
