Your Diet During Pregnancy

A healthy meal plan during pregnancy is encouraged for all women, especially if you have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). GDM is when you develop high blood glucose (sugar) level during pregnancy. Managing what and how much you eat during your pregnancy will help you to keep your blood glucose (sugar) level from being too high and lead to other complications.

Follow the 3 video links below to learn all about how you can plan your meals and meal schedule to maintain a healthy and nutritious pregnancy diet.

  1. Part 1: What is GDM?
    This video will provide an overview of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) and how GDM can affect you and your baby. You will be introduced to the aims of this GDM management programme.

  2. Part 2: The First 3 Action Steps for your GDM Control
    This video will explain how you can take the first steps to making dietary changes to manage your GDM effectively. You will be provided with specific action steps you will need to take in order to maintain your blood glucose levels in the optimal range.

  3. Part 3: The 5 Healthy Eating Tips for GDM
    This video will share five healthy eating tips to improve the quality of your diet to benefit your pregnancy. These tips will also lead you to adopt healthy eating habits for the rest of your life and enables you to set a good example for your newborn.

After you have watched the videos, you will need to schedule an appointment with a dietitian, who will go through an individualised meal plan with you.
