Clinical attachment in Obstetric & Gynaecology Nursing

Description

Obstetric wards admit antenatal and postnatal patients whilst Gynaecology wards admit patient with diseases of the reproductive system.

​The clinical attachment provides opportunities for the nurse to gain knowledge and skills in the current nursing practice and services in this specialty.

Entry Criteria

  • Registered General Nurse and Midwife with temporary registration with Singapore Nursing Board if hands-on required.
  • Proficiency in English language.

Expected learning / learning objectives

On completion, the trainee will be able to:

  • Discuss the role of the nurse in:
    • Obstetric nursing
    • Gynaecological nursing
  • Discuss the nursing care of:
    • Patients in labour
    • Well and sick neonates
    • Antenatal and postnatal patients
  • Discuss infection control in a hospital.
  • Discuss the role of the Nurse Manager in obstetrics and gynaecology.
