For September’s Singapore Women in Science (SgWIS) webinar, Dr Geh Min will be speaking on "Rethink, Relearn, Reconnect - Nature as an Educator". Dr Geh Min is a respected ophthalmologist and a renowned conservationist who was the former President of the Nature Society, Singapore.
Dr Geh Min was the first female president of the Nature Society in 2000 and stayed at the helm till 2008. In 2006, for her contributions to environmental sustainability, she was one of three recipients of the Inaugural President's Award for the environment and was also awarded the Stellar Award from UNIFEM, that same year.
Dr Geh Min has served on numerous committees related to the environment. As a Nominated Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2006, she spoke extensively on issues such as climate change, alternative energy sources, nature conservation and the need for a strong civil society. In 2007, Dr Geh Min led Singapore’s delegation to the Citizens of the Earth conference in Paris. She is very passionate about conservation and nature, and she will be sharing her thoughts and experiences with us.
