SingHealth raised $1.3 million for the President's Challenge 2023. Guest of Honour President Tharman Shanmugaratnam unveiled the amount at the grand finale event on 21 October 2023.
21 October 2023, Singapore – A total of $1.3 million was raised by SingHealth for President's Challenge 2023. The fundraising event, which commenced in May 2023, culminated in a grand finale today, where SingHealth presented the amount raised to Guest-of-Honour President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
This year's SingHealth President's Challenge was led by the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and marks the 19th year that SingHealth has supported the event. Proceeds raised will go to five adopted benefitting agencies of the President's Challenge – Caregivers Alliance Limited, Club Heal, HCA Hospice Limited, SingHealth Fund (National Neuroscience Institute Fund), and the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped.
Themed "Caring Hands, Compassionate Hearts", the 2023 campaign saw more than 32,000 SingHealth staff, including doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and healthcare administrators, unite towards a common cause through a series of outreach and fundraising initiatives. These included a pledge card donation drive, The Spirit of SingHealth Challenge, The SingHealth 12 Peaks Challenge, and outings for clients of the adopted benefitting agencies. Various SingHealth institutions also organised fundraising initiatives like physical and virtual bazaars, dance and fitness classes, and craft workshops.
"It is our privilege to support the SingHealth President's Challenge again this year. I'm heartened to see all our staff coming together as one family to pool their energy and time together for a greater cause, to care for those in need in our community. Through their collective efforts, we managed to raise $1.3 million, and I hope these funds will support our adopted benefitting agencies in improving the lives of their clients," said Professor Ivy Ng, Group Chief Executive Officer, SingHealth.
"We are honoured to have this opportunity to make a difference to our community, and I am encouraged by all our colleagues who have been nothing short of supportive and generous throughout the course of our campaign. We also are grateful to our corporate partners who readily stepped up to contribute to the campaign. Everyone involved has really embodied the spirit of compassion and care for this cause that is close to our hearts," said Professor Jodhbir Mehta, Chairman for the SingHealth President's Challenge 2023 Steering Committee, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Research), Singapore National Eye Centre.
