SINGAPORE - A crew member of a bulk carrier, some 111km off the coast of Singapore, was airlifted to hospital by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) on Nov 9.
RSAF search-and-rescue unit Rescue 10 was activated at 5.30pm on Nov 9 to evacuate a crewman who required urgent medical attention, a Ministry of Defence (Mindef) spokesperson told The Straits Times.
According to a post on the RSAF’s Facebook page, the man was taken to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) in a H225M helicopter.
The Rescue 10 medical team monitored the patient’s vitals en route, and he was conscious and stable when handed over to the SGH medical staff, said the Mindef spokesperson.
This marks the seventh time Rescue 10 has responded successfully to an activation in 2024. The team consists of medical personnel, and air and ground crew, who are on standby for activation round the clock.
The team “will continue to stand ready in responding to life-saving missions”, said the RSAF.
