Endocrinology
Endocrinology is a medical subspecialty that deals with disorders of glands in the human body. In children and teenagers, these glands are particularly important as they produce hormones necessary for optimal growth, puberty development and general well being. Children are not just small adults. Problems seen by paediatric endocrinologists are quite different from those commonly seen by endocrinologists who care for adults. Our paediatric endocrinologists care for your child in a setting that is appropriate for children and teens, together with nurses, diabetes educators and nutritionists who are attuned to their special needs.
We offer a full range of diagnostic, treatment and management services for the newborn through childhood and adolescence into early adulthood. Our clinics serve as referral centres for hormone related conditions such as growth disorders, puberty disorders, diabetes, thyroid disorders, lipid disorders, primary hypo-pituatarism and congenital adrenal disorders.
