Neurology Service

Our Neurology Service cares for children with disorders and emergencies related to nerves and the central nervous system. The service also runs specialty clinics for children affected by spasticity and spina bifida.

Range of Services

Inpatient services:

• Management of acute neurological emergencies such as Guillain-Barre syndrome, acute spinal cord injuries, transverse myelitis, refractory status epilepticus, stroke etc
• Provision of continuous bedside EEG and video-EEG monitoring for definitive diagnosis and better characterisation of seizures
• Paediatric neuro-rehabilitation service, the first of its kind locally, for children recovering from acute central nervous system injuries
• Neurological consults for common childhood neurological disorders

Outpatient services:

• General Paediatric Neurology Clinic Reviewing children with epilepsy, developmental delay, neuromuscular disorders, movement disorders (including Tourette syndrome), neurometabolic disorders, headache disorders and others
• Botox Clinic

  • Spasticity Clinic
    Multi-disciplinary management of children with spasticity & neuromuscular disorders, involving experts in neurology, orthopaedics, rehabilitation and neurosurgery
    Identification of children with spasticity suitable for botox therapy, orthopaedic or neurosurgical intervention, to optimise on their functional and ambulatory outcome
  • Spina Bifida clinics
    Providing comprehensive care for children with spina bifida
  • Neurophysiological Studies
    Routine EEG, portable video-EEG, EMG / Nerve conduction test, brain stem auditory evoked potential
