A stellar cast of speakers from NCCS, SGH, NHC and KKH will be speaking at the 1- day Symposium.

Synopsis:

SingHealth is organising the 1st Singhealth Genetics Education Symposium – A Primer for Clinical Practice.

Progress in human genomic sciences continues at a remarkable pace: the Hap Map Project and the 1000 Genomes Project have provided the opportunity to assess the common and rare variations in genomes; this has led to the discovery of pathogenic mutations of a large number of (near)-Mendelian disorders and has extended the important list of rare disorders relevant to clinical medicine. These advances were possible thanks to the truly extraordinary and unexpected progress in sequencing technologies, the availability of bioinformatics tools, and the collaboration of clinicians and scientists worldwide.
