KKH Urgent Paediatric Advice Line (UPAL)

[Click on the KKH U-PAL banner on top or the launcher icon on the bottom right to start the service]

The KKH Urgent Paediatric Advice Line (U-PAL) is an online service for parents and caregivers to seek advice for common paediatric conditions (for children below the age of 18 years) such as fever, cough, diarrhoea, vomiting and common injuries.

KKH U-PAL is available 24 hours daily, at no charge (local data charges may apply). Enquiries may be referred to a healthcare professional for further advice between 8.00am to 11.00pm only. Users will need to provide their phone numbers and email addresses, as KKH may seek feedback and participation in a survey after using this service.

  • This service is provided at no charge (local data charges may apply).
  • This service is not meant to replace consultation with qualified medical practitioners.
  • The accuracy of advice given depends on input provided by the users, and the advice may not be all encompassing.
  • For concerns not addressed by this service, seeking prompt consultation with qualified medical practitioners is strongly recommended.
  • If your child needs urgent medical attention, please proceed to the nearest paediatric emergency department.
  • In the event of an emergency, please call 995.

For certain pre-existing or chronic medical conditions, it is not recommended to seek advice from KKH U-PAL as your child may require more specialised care. Please consult your child’s attending doctor or designated care team if your child has any of the following past medical history still requiring follow up and care:

  1. Bowel or abdominal disease (such as inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, history of bleeding from the bowel, intussusception in the past one year, pancreatitis)
  2. Liver disease (such as biliary atresia, autoimmune hepatitis, chronic liver disease)
  3. Kidney disease (such as glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease)
  4. Autoimmune disease (such as systemic lupus erythematosus or juvenile idiopathic arthritis)
  5. Heart disease (such as abnormal heart structure, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, heart rhythm problems, previous cardiac surgery)
  6. Brain disease (such as autoimmune encephalitis, recent brain infection in the last six months, brain bleed, epilepsy, hydrocephalus, brain tumour)
  7. Endocrine disease (such as diabetes mellitus, adrenal disease or hyperthyroidism)
  8. Cancer
  9. Prematurity (< 36 weeks) with complications requiring NICU admission and still on active follow up (especially if your child is less than one year of age)
  10. On long term medication that weakens the immune system. [Examples of such long term medication]

We would like to hear your feedback regarding your use of U-PAL. Hence, please be informed that we will follow-up with you for a short survey online on your experience so that we can better enhance this platform.
