Profile

​Prof Lo completed a fellowship in Joint Replacement in Minneapolis, USA with Prof Ramon Gustilo and returned to head the Adult Reconstruction Service of the Department of Orthopedics Surgery, SGH in 1995. 

Prof Lo and his team had been instrumental in making SGH one of the leading centers in the Asia-Pacific region for joint replacement surgery. His special interests are in minimally invasive joint replacement surgery and in computer-guided joint replacement surgery, and he has presented and published extensively on these topics internationally. Some minimally invasive knee replacement instruments and implants that he has been involved in the development of are presently used worldwide.

He has been invited to conduct many courses in minimally invasive joint replacement surgery and in computer-aided orthopedic surgery, for orthopedic surgeons in the Asia-Pacific region. He was also the organising chairman of 2nd Asia Computer Aided Orthopaedic Navigation Congress 2005 (CAOS 2005) held in Singapore. For his contributions, he received the 2004 SGH CEO’s Service Quality Award and the NUS 2002-2004 Excellence in Orthopaedic Teaching Award. Among his honorary appointments are visiting Professor in Orthopaedics to Ningxia Medical College, Ningxia, China and Emeritus Consultant in Orthopaedics to Liaocheng People’s Hospital, Shandong, China.
