Dr Ong Say How is a Senior Consultant child psychiatrist and Chief in the department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Institute of Mental Health (IMH). He is also a Visiting Senior Consultant in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Graduated in National University of Singapore in 1999 with a Masters Degree in Medicine (Psychiatry) and a Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy in 2001, Dr Ong completed his one-year Research Fellowship at New York Columbia University and New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI) in 2005. Since his return to Singapore, he has been deeply engaged in outpatient services for children and adolescents with psychological problems and has conducted research work in mood disorders, schizophrenia and ADHD. In addition to being appointed as Psychiatry Lead by LKC School of Medicine and teaching faculty by Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) and DUKE-NUS Medical School, Dr Ong is also a core faculty member of the National Psychiatric Residency Program. Besides volunteering as a board member of the Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) in which he is actively involved in public education and caregivers training, Dr Ong is also a frequent speaker in public forums and media interviews on child mental health issues. His authorship also spans various relevant topics on children and adolescent mental health.
