This paediatric haematology/oncology fellowship programme offers fellows with the opportunity work alongside a multi-disciplinary team and to be acquainted with various types of paediatric haematology and oncology cases through participation in ward rounds, tumour board meetings and various departmental activities.

We are a recognised International Haemophilia Training Centre (IHTC) with the World Federation of Haemophilia (WFH), in collaboration with the Department of Haematology at Singapore General Hospital, and host fellows funded via the WFH IHTC Fellowship Programme. We also contribute to education and outreach efforts via the Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders Asia-Pacific (AHADAP) and International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH).

The programme builds on the Department’s general paediatric surgery cum paediatric urology fellowship, which has trained clinical fellows and observers from Southeast Asia since 2013. In a similar vein, doctors who complete the training will return to their home countries with the newly gained expertise and experience to contribute towards enhancing their countries’ clinical and research capabilities, particularly in the care of paediatric brain and solid tumours.

The VIVA-KKH Paediatric Brain and Solid Tumour Programme will be providing sponsorship for this fellowship to selected medical doctors from less developed countries in the region, as part of its education and exchange initiatives to enhance inter-institutional collaboration, reach out to the broader population in Southeast Asia and integrate training and education into our healthcare and research activities. One of the key aims is for the doctors who have completed the fellowship to return to their home countries with newly gained expertise and experience. We hope to contribute towards enhancing their countries’ clinical and research capabilities, particularly in the care of paediatric brain and solid tumours.

The Clinical Fellowship in Paediatric Pathology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, is a busy, intense and fast-paced programme. Trainees on the programme are expected to fully participate and immerse themselves in the work and activities of the unit, which spans surgical pathology, placental pathology and perinatal autopsies. Trainees should expect to be fully occupied during office hours attending to the work of the department, which includes, but is not limited to, handling of gross pathological specimens, reporting of microscopy slides, performance of fetal and perinatal post mortems, attendance and presentation at clinical meetings, and participation and presentation at slide teaching sessions.

KKH Paediatric Oncology Nursing Fellowship program is designed to help stimulate the career interest and foster the professional development of oncology nurses both locally and across the region. The aim of this clinical fellowship is to provide aspiring nurses with comprehensive education focused on paediatric oncology nursing coupled with clinical opportunity and evidence based practice.

This program is built on the strong teaching faculty comprises of trained certified oncology nurses from KKH. The eight- weeks clinical exposure for the nursing fellow cover all subspecialties of paediatric oncology including leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumour, neuro-oncology, late effects, haematology, palliative, inpatient general haematology/oncology with stem cell transplant and outpatient nursing management. Nursing fellow will be actively involved in patient related activities with additional benefit of attending tumour board, grand round, nursing round and various other nursing education platforms. On top of the clinical exposure, nursing fellow will have hand-on practical session for various oncology related nursing procedures.
