Preventing Falls and Injuries in the Clinics

You and your child are at risk of falls, especially in an unfamiliar place. Falls put you and your child at risk of serious injuries and may even cause unnecessary hospital stay. Thus, we encourage you to be proactive and create a safe environment with us to prevent falls.
The following are points you need to know to keep you and your child’s hospital experience safe.
Play

- Supervise play at all times
- Prevent children from climbing onto unstable and high structures
- Avoid running in the clinics
On the Couch

- Supervise your child at all times
- Get up slowly and ask for assistance if required
Escalator

- Mind the steps
- Hold onto the handrails firmly
- Young children must be held closely
- No wheelchairs or prams
- Stand within the yellow line
Wheelchair/ Stroller

- Fasten seatbelt
- Ensure it is locked when stationary
- Prevent children from playing with it
Automatic/ Sliding Door

- Avoid playing at the entrance of the automatic/ sliding door
- Do not put your fingers in between the door gaps
Wet Floor

- Be cautious of wet floor
- Alert staff when the floor is wet
