Pilocarpine - Side Effects, Precautions, and Contraindications

What side effects can Pilocarpine cause?

  • Sweating
    Ensure that you are receiving sufficient fluid intake.
  • Stomach upset
  • Runny nose, tearing of eyes
  • Flushing, chills
  • Dizziness, weakness
  • Frequent urination

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

  • Side effects become severe
  • Anxiety and mood changes
  • Headache and vomiting
  • Eye pain or vision changes
  • Chest pain
  • Allergic reactions e.g. skin rash, swelling, breathing difficulties

Before taking Pilocarpine, what precautions must I follow?
