Additional Information

Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) is one of two subtypes of the rhabdomyosarcoma family of soft tissue tumours. Genetic subtyping has identified PAX3-FKHR (2;13), PAX7-FKHR (1;13), and fusion-negative subsets of ARMS. Our real-time RT-PCR assay is capable of identifying both the PAX3-FKHR (2;13), and the PAX7-FKHR (1;13) translocations.

Expected Test Result:
PAX3-FKHR (2;13) and PAX7-FKHR (1;13) fusion is detected/ not detected (RNA integrity is acceptable as checked by housekeeping gene)/ The assay is inconclusive (RNA quality is not good enough)

The molecular test result must always be correlated with clinical and histopathological findings by an appropriately trained, qualified and experienced pathologist.
