Paperless Prescriptions


KKH is going paperless with its prescriptions!

All new prescriptions will not be printed:

KKH@Halifax – from 29 August 2023
KKH – from 12 September 2023

Patients and caregivers can look forward to:

  • Efficiency: Simply register at the Pharmacy counter using your Q-ticket or ID no. to collect your medication*
  • Security: No more misplaced prescriptions
  • Convenience: Go onto HealthBuddy and request to have your medications delivered to your home, at no charge!

*For medications prescribed before 29 August 2023 (Halifax Pharmacy) and before 12 September 2023 (KKH main building), a printed prescription is still required for collection of medication.


Frequently Asked Questions

How do I collect my medications without a paper prescription?

  • If you need the medications within 2 weeks, you will need to present yourself at the registration counters at the respective KKH pharmacies.
  • You can ONLY collect your medications in KKH.
  • If you intend to collect outside KKH, kindly ask your doctor for a signed paper prescription.
  • Alternatively, you may also opt for our medication delivery service for repeat medications if you have at least 2 weeks of supplies at home. You may use the image of the medication or medication balance label when submitting your order via the following ways:

Without a prescription how do I know what medications I have left?

We will issue you with a medication balance label that will let you know the current balance of your medicines.

How do I check my prescription balance if I have misplaced the medication balance label?

You can call us at 6394 1500/ 1501 to find out. Phone operating hours: Monday to Friday: 9.00am to 6.00pm.

Is there an expiry date for my prescription if it is now in the system?

Yes. Prescription will still have a 1-year expiry from the date of issue, even in the electronic system.
