General Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine

Objectives

On completion, the Fellow will gain a good understanding and appreciation of approach to diagnosis of and management of general paediatric medical conditions, including neonatology and emergency medicine where indicated.

Teaching Programme

  • Didactic core lectures for general paediatric conditions
  • Subspecialty in-service teaching
  • Paediatric Medicine journal club
  • Paediatric Medicine Weekly CICU rounds
  • Paediatric combined x-ray rounds
  • Monthly invited speakers
  • Bedside tutorials and topic discussion
  • Monthly hospital-wide conference
  • Subspecialty teachings e.g. weekly cardiac conference, neuroradiology round, respiratory rounds etc.

Paediatricians

Pre-requisite

Candidates must be medical graduates from recognized medical schools as determined by the Singapore Medical Council or a degree that can be registered by the Singapore Medical Council.

Three-year posting*

  • One year of compulsory postings comprising of two months of Gastroenterology, Neurology, Respiratory Medicine, Critical Care and 1 month of Endocrinology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Haem-Oncology
  • Six months in Neonatology
  • Six months in Children’s Emergency
  • Three months elective * and nine months of General Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine

* Elective postings can include postings to paediatric community services e.g. School Health Service, Child Guidance Clinic, Child Development Unit or any elected subspecialty rotation

Two-year posting*

  • One year of compulsory postings comprising of two months of Gastroenterology, Neurology, Respiratory Medicine, Critical Care and 1 month of Endocrinology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Haem-Oncology
  • Six months in Neonatology
  • Six months in Children’s Emergency
One-year posting*

  • One year of compulsory postings comprising of two months of Gastroenterology, Neurology, Respiratory Medicine, Critical Care and 1 month of Endocrinology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Haem-Oncology


*Duration and posting type may vary according to service and candidates' needs

Certificate of fellowship at the end of the attachment

Positions/Training Places

One to two fellowship training positions will be given for a given duration.

Course Fee

Fees will be determined upon application.

Funding

Candidates should be self-funded or have funding from external sources/institutions.
