Once your doctor considers you fit to be discharged from hospital, our ward nurses will make the necessary arrangements. Please remember to return all hospital gowns, children’s pyjamas, baby vests and blankets upon your discharge.
Patients may be discharged by 11.00am or 5.00pm. The time of discharge will be determined by doctors. For patients who are certified medically fit for home but choose to stay on in the ward beyond the discharge times, additional room charges and daily treatment fees will apply.
You should avoid overseas travel (by airplane, ship, motor vehicle) immediately after surgery. Flying too soon after a surgery, procedure or anesthesia, can carry significant risk of complications. It is strongly advised that you discuss your travel plans with your doctor.
For Obstetric Patients
Your doctor will examine your baby before you go home. You will also be advised on how to care for yourself and your baby.
We will also schedule a postnatal appointment for you to see your doctor. If you prefer, you can also follow up at the Maternal Child Health Clinics at the Government polyclinics.
For Complex Home Care Patients
The process for discharge begins when the child is deemed medically stable by the primary team. The primary team will initiate the discharge planning and the plans for follow up appointments.
