Overview
This 12-month programme is designed to train pharmacists towards specialized practice focused on the care of paediatric patients by providing broad based clinical pharmacy training in a children's hospital / referral centre. The residents will be exposed to a wide range of paediatric specialties and have hands-on experience to care and manage patients’ disease. Through the programme, the resident will develop into an independent and competent paediatric pharmacist with expertise in patient care, teaching and research.
Objectives
This programme adheres to the ASHP International Accreditation Standard for Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Paediatric Pharmacy Residency Programs.
The Six Educational Outcomes that the resident will achieve at the end of the residency are as follows:
Outcome R1: Having leadership and practice management skills in the paediatric patient care setting.
Outcome R2: Optimize the care of inpatient and outpatient paediatric patients by providing evidence-based, patient-centred medication therapy as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team.
Outcome R3: Serve as an authoritative resource on the optimal use of medications used to treat paediatric patients.
Outcome R4: Evaluate, manage, and improve the medication-use process in paediatric patient care areas.
Outcome R5: Demonstrate excellence in the provision of training or educational activities for paediatric health care professionals, health care professionals in training, and the public.
Outcome R6: Conduct paediatric pharmacy research.
