Additional Information
A class of genomic alterations on chromosome 7q34 has been found in the majority in pediatric low grade gliomas e.g. pilocytic astrocytoma that create fusions between a gene of unknown function, KIAA1549, and the BRAF gene. This real-time RT-PCR assay is able to detect the three most common exon-specific KIAA1549-BRAF fusion junctions in chromosome 7 in low grade glioma: 15-9, 16-9, and 16-11.

Expected Test Result:
KIAA1549-BRAF 15-9/16-9/16-11 fusion is detected/ not detected (RNA integrity is acceptable as checked by housekeeping gene)/ The assay is inconclusive (RNA quality is not good enough)

The molecular test result must always be correlated with clinical and histopathological findings by an appropriately trained, qualified and experienced pathologist.
