Specimen Requirement

3mL blood and Urine Call 6321 4920 or 6321 4948 for appointment. Important: See additional info for collection of urine and blood specimen.

Specimen Storage / Transport

Specimens must reach SGH lab by 11.30am on appointment day. Please send specimens before transportation time. Transport will leave for SGH at the following timing: Mon-Fri: 0900hr & 1500hr Additional transport time for urgent specimens only: 11am Sat: 0900hr & 1100hr

Additional Information

1. Fasting is optional. Patient may have 1 or 2 slices of bread with butter and coffee with milk and sugar.
2. At 6am, give 0.1g ammonium chloride/kg body weight orally in orange juice.
3. At 8am, empty bladder and discard urine. Drink 1 glass of water.
4. Collect all urine passed up to 9am. Send immediately to lab.
5. At 9am, give another glass of water to drink .Take 1 specimen of 3mL herparinised blood in syringe for blood gas analysis. Send immediately.
6. Collect all urine passed up to 10am, and send urine specimen to lab immediately.
