Asst Prof Thowfique Ibrahim was born in 1968 in a picturesque green valley, Koottickal, Kerala State, India. He attended a Catholic missionary high school, Junior College and graduated from Government Medical School in Kottayam, Kerala state, in 1990 at the age of 22.
The PLAB examination was successfully undertaken in 1996 and started the postgraduate training in Pediatrics in the UK. The workplaces include major university hospitals in the UK, including the Neonatal Unit attached to St Georges Medical School, Tooting, Birmingham Heartland Hospital, and Leeds General Infirmary attached to Leeds University. The MRCP examination was passed in 1999 and became a specialist registrar trainee in pediatrics. The fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Calgary, Canada, was offered to me in 2001, and the position was accepted in 2002. Upon completing the program, I was certified as a subspecialist in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine in 2004 and moved to Dubai Hospital, attached to Dubai Medical College. He moved to Singapore in 2007 and have worked at KK Women's and Children's Hospital.
