Dr Yan is a senior consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at the Breast Centre, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Clinical Assistant Professor with Duke-NUS Medical school. She was awarded the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) where she completed further subspecialty training in the field of oncoplastic breast surgery at the world renowned cancer institute Royal Marsden Hospital in London. Her current practice covers all benign breast conditions, diagnosis and management of breast cancer.

Dr Yan believes breast cancer care should be individualized and a good aesthetic outcome is as important as a good oncological outcome. She firmly believes in the importance of public education for early detection of cancer and speaks regularly in public forums in both English and Mandarin. Dr Yan’s research interest include the safe de-escalation of breast and axilla treatment and phyllodes tumours of the breast. In recognition of her dedication to the care of her patients she has been awarded multiple service awards. She is actively involved in the education of doctors and medical students and mentors both international and local doctors and students.
