Use case: Used for complex surgeries with foreseen difficulties (e.g. complex anatomy, congenital anomalies, large habitus, high risk anatomical regions or involvement of critical structures) – for surgical team to rehearse for surgery by enhancing the ability to visualize complex spatial relationships. This can identify intra-op difficulties, allow for preparation of additional equipment, and potentially reduce operative time, bleeding, and complications.
Used for counselling and education of patients with unique complex anatomy and/or surgeries in the clinic, which can aid in reducing decision conflict for surgery and improve patient and family understanding of condition and proposed treatment plans.
Used for education and teaching of trainees and residents rotating through KKH for visualization and understanding of complex anatomy (e.g. triplane fractures, neuromuscular hip dislocations, pelvic osteotomies), which can improve diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic conditions.
Used to produce low-cost, accessible medical equipment for residents and trainees to use on a daily basis (e.g. low-cost microsurgery trainer, low-cost 2 point discrimination tool, laparoscopic trainers) – particularly for pediatric or niche surgical applications which generic training kits do not cater for.
