Medisave can be used to pay medical expenses incurred by the Medisave account holder and his/her immediate family members. The Medisave withdrawal limit for daily inpatient hospital charges is SGD$1130 per day for the first two days and SGD$400 per day from the third day onwards. For approved day surgery, the Medisave withdrawal limit is SGD$830 per day for daily hospital charges. For surgical operations (inpatient and day surgery), there is a fixed Medisave limit according to the table of surgical operations. The B2 6-bedded or C 6-bedded Ward Type generally may not require a deposit, unless the estimated hospital bill size exceeds the Medisave withdrawal limit or there are insufficient funds in your Medisave account. For those choosing A1-bedded/B1 4-bedded/B2+ 5-bedded Ward Type, a cash deposit is necessary as Medisave will not be able to cover the full hospital bill.

In order to use Medisave for your hospitalisation bills, you need to complete the Medical Claims Authorisation Form (MCAF) during financial counselling and submit it to the hospital for processing. There is a separate withdrawal limit for Surgical Operation(s). Medisave deduction can be used for inpatient psychiatric treatment, subject to SGD$230 daily.

The Medisave withdrawal limits for Medisave Maternity Package (MMP) are as follows: SGD$2,380 for Caesarean delivery or SGD$1,120 for vaginal delivery, daily hospital charges SGD$1130 for first 2 days and SGD$400 for 3rd day onwards and SGD$900 for pre-delivery expenses.

For reversal of ligation, patient can opt to utilise her own or her spouse’s Medisave for payment (subject to withdrawal limits).

With the Medisave authorisation, the hospital will assist to process the Medisave Maternity Package application for pre-delivery expenses related to pregnancy.

For submission of Non-KKH Antenatal Invoices, we only accept Original/ Certified True Copies of tax invoices (with antenatal services breakdown) issued by medical institutions.

Use of Medisave for Non-Immediate Family Members’ (NIM) hospitalisation is allowed and subject to meeting the following criterias:

  • Patient is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Patient stays in B2 6-bedded or C 6-bedded Ward Type.
  • Patient does not have or has utilised all his/her Medisave.
  • Immediate Family members’ Medisave have been fully utilised.

Charges for Cancellation/Changing of Medisave Account
There will be an administrative charge for cancellation/change of Medisave account holder or to cancel approved claim for Medisave-approved integrated plan (PMI) after the bill is finalised.

The Electronic Letter of Guarantee for Waiver of Deposit (eLOG)
The Electronic Letter of Guarantee (LOG) generated by the hospital for Healthshield policies, is not a guarantee of payment. The finalised tax invoice will be sent to the insurer for their final assessment and the payment for the hospital bill will be determined by them.

Cancelled Admission Charges
If patients is deemed unfit for procedure/surgery by the doctor after admission to the ward, full day Ward charge plus Daily Treatment Fee and charges for any procedure, test, services performed or ordered will be billed to patient accordingly. If the bill does not meet the criteria for Medisave usage, the full bill will be payable in cash.

For patients who wish to be discharged Against Medical Advice (AMA) within eight hours of admission, a cancellation fee will be imposed. Also, any procedures, tests, services performed or ordered before the decision is taken, will be billed to the patient accordingly. Medisave can only be claimed if the stay is longer than eight hours.

Interim Billing
Interim bills can be obtained by submitting your request here. If the interim bill size exceeds the estimated MediSave withdrawal limits and initial payment made, further cash payment may be required.

Letter of Guarantee
To ensure coverage for your hospitalisation expenses, please present the Letter of Guarantee from your employer or insurance company at least seven working days before your admission to the hospital. Your employer or insurance company must have an established direct billing arrangement with KKH. KKH reserves the right and discretion to decline approval of the Letter of Guarantee, in which case you will be responsible for the initial payment and hospital charges. Hospital deposit prior to admission
Deposit (cash top-up)

  • Generally, B2 6-bedded/C 6-bedded Ward Type may not require a deposit, unless your estimated hospital bill is above the Medisave withdrawal limit or there are insufficient funds in your Medisave account.
  • For those choosing A 1-bedded/B1 4-bedded/B2+ 5-bedded Ward Type, a cash deposit is required because Medisave cannot fully cover the bill.
  • Patients seeking admission to A 1-bedded/B1 4-bedded/B2+ 5-bedded Ward Type and who are unable to pay the deposit should reconsider their choice of ward.
  • Deposit may be decreased or exempted if you produce a Letter of Guarantee from your employer or insurance company in Singapore.
  • Patients can be assured that no one would be denied healthcare in an emergency.

Refunds
The refund processing period is 21 working days from the final billing date. Our standard practice is to offset refunds against any outstanding patient bills. If the Letter of Guarantee (LOG) or Hospital Identification Card (HIC) was issued to our hospital after the initial payment was collected, any excess amount will be refunded after we receive payment from the insurance company or employer.
