KKH has developed various work-life strategies to promote work-life harmony. We have many programmes and services aimed at helping employees ease the burden of personal and family commitments.
Flexible Work Arrangements
- 5-day compressed work week
- Flexi-time
- Part-time
- 12-hour shift rotation
Dependent Care
- On-site childcare centre
Employees are given priority to enrol their children ages 2 months to 6 years in the on-site childcare centre. They also get to enjoy employees rates at the childcare.
- Emergency infant / child care
Situations arise where the regular caregiver is unavailable and employees need alternative arrangements to take care of their children. Employees can enroll their children on a short-term basis in the childcare and be assured that their children are in good hands while they work.
Conducive and Safe Working Environment
- ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
The Hospital is accredited with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Environmental, Health and Safety system. With this system and standard in place, the Hospital will address any potential environmental and occupational hazards that employees may face while working on Hospital premises.
- Facility Management and Safety Committee
There is a Hospital-wide committee that comprises senior and middle management employees representing the major departments who oversee, monitor and review practices and issues which have an impact on employees’ safety in the Hospital work environment.
Supportive Organisational Practices and Facilities
There are many events that the Hospital organises in support of work life balance for employees that include their families.
- “Wind Beneath My Wings” Award
KKH gives an award to recognise supportive family members who have enabled our employees to contribute effectively to the Hospital. Nominations are open to all employees to nominate any family member who has demonstrated outstanding support to help the employee in coping with their family and work life.
- Eat With Your Family Day
KKH actively supports the annual Eat With Your Family (EWYF) Day that encourages and reminds employees to spend quality time with their loved ones through the simple ritual of sharing a meal with them.
- Kiddies’ Day
A Kiddies Day is held annually for employees to bring their children and introduce them to their parent’s work environment. A tour of the workplace and other activities are specifically organised for the children.
- Lactation Rooms and Lactation Counselling
As a hospital that promotes breastfeeding for mothers, we have a special lactation facility especially for employees to express and store their breast milk. The rooms are well equipped with breast pumps (complete with funnels, valves/membranes), steam sterilizers, kettles, bottle brushes, sinks and refrigerators to allow mothers to continue breastfeeding after returning to work. Lactation counselling by our lactation experts is available to provide the much-needed support for nursing mothers.
