Dr Abdul Alim is currently working as a senior consultant in the Department of Neonatology. He has been working in KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital since 2011. He graduated in Medicine in 1994 from India and completed his postgraduate training in Paediatrics and Neonatology with an interest in paediatric cardiology in the United Kingdom (UK). Before moving to Singapore, he was working as a consultant in neonatology in the UK after his advanced specialist training in Paediatrics and two years’ fellowship in paediatric cardiology in the UK.
Dr Abdul Alim has broad clinical experience in the fields of Paediatrics and Neonatology and is very experienced in the clinical management of critically ill newborn infants in the neonatal intensive care unit, management of newborn infants in the special care nursery and management of wide range of neonatal conditions. He also provides follow-up care for newborn infants who are born premature. His clinical and research interests include neonatal respiratory care, bronchopulmonary dysplasia in newborn, neonatal jaundice, neonatal cardiology, neonatal point of care ultrasound imaging and functional echocardiography.
Dr Abdul Alim has strong interest in undergraduate and postgraduate education and training. He has teaching appointments with all the three medical schools in Singapore. He served as a core faculty member in SingHealth Paediatrics residency program for 6- years and had been awarded the outstanding faculty award for three years. He also serves as executive council member in the Chapter of Neonatology, College of Paediatrics and Child health as well as Perinatal Society of Singapore.
He has been awarded the SingHealth Health and Manpower Development Program Award, Singapore Healthcare Quality Service, Silver award and Singapore Health Quality Service, Star awards in recognition for his contributions.
