A few years after graduating from National University of Singapore, Dr Yee Ruixiang was awarded the Ministry of Health scholarship to pursue Paediatric Dentistry at King’s College London. During his three years in the UK, he worked at the Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ hospitals, and Evelina London Children’s hospital, and passed both his MSc and PGCert with Distinctions. He also passed the Tri-collegiate MPaedDent diploma examinations and is now a member to the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Locally, he is a board-certified Paediatric Dentist with the Specialist Accreditation Board Singapore and is a Fellow to the Academy of Medicine Singapore (FAMS).
Dr Yee is a consultant Paediatric Dentist at the KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital (KKH) Dental Service and at the KKH Cleft and Craniofacial Centre. He manages the oral health of babies and children especially those with medical conditions, cleft lip/palate, child abuse and oral trauma. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor with the Duke-NUS medical school and clinical lecturer of the NUS Paediatric Dentistry postgraduate programme. He has special interest in oral health of children with cancer, dental sedation, pain management, special needs, and non-accidental injuries. Dr Yee volunteers as the current President of Society for Paediatric Dentistry Singapore and Board Member of Paediatric Dentistry Association of Asia. He is also a question writer/reviewer for the 2023 & 2024 International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD) Fellowship Exam Committee (Section of Special Needs & Paediatric Medicine).
His dedication to patient care has earned him several times, the KKH Service from the Heart Awards [2013, 2017,2021] and the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards in [2019 (Gold), 2020 (Star), 2023 (Silver), 2024 (Gold), 2025 (Star)]. He was also the very first recipient of the inaugural KKH ChildKind Champ Award (Doctor Category) in 2022, being a key person to spearhead the setup of the nitrous oxide dental service at KKH.
He is active in research and have won awards e.g. the SAAD President’s Best Poster Award 2017 on “Ketamine Sedation in Oro-facial Trauma” and the Oral Health Academic Clinical Programme Young Clinician Publications Awards four times. He also obtained the SingHealth Duke NUS Academic Centre ACP Education Support Grant and Innovation Seed Grant in April 2024. He speaks widely at local and international conferences.
