Clin A/Prof Suresh Chandran is a career neonatologist who has so far worked for 30 years in neonatal medicine. He had his training in Neonatology at Royal Hospital, Oman, Hammersmith Hospital, London and Monash Medical centre, Australia. He pioneered the development of a tertiary Neonatal centre at RIPAS Hospital, Brunei Darussalam during his tenure from 1997 to 2011. He was working as a Consultant Neonatologist in RIPAS Hospital, Brunei Darussalam from 1997 - 2011. Clin A/Prof Suresh has been working in the Department of Neonatology, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) as Senior Consultant since April 2011.
He has been working as an educator for the last 35 years. He was a senior lecturer in Queensland University and lecturer in PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, Brunei Darussalam. Currently he is Clinical Associate Professor in Duke NUS Medical school and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Singapore and Adj Assistant Professor in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
He spearheaded a new service at KKH in 2014 – “To develop a one stop center in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore for diagnosis and management of Hyperinsulinemia Hypoglycemia”. This service is currently available at KKH. Clin A/Prof Suresh’s interest includes – Congenital Hyperinsulinism, Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension in Newborn, Necrotizing Enterocolitis, Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy and Congenital Anomalies.
