Dr. Wan-Yee Teo, a clinician-scientist, is Head and Principal Investigator of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Office at SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre, Singapore. She is Vice President of the College of Clinician Scientists, Academy of Medicine, Singapore. She completed her clinical training in Pediatrics and Pediatric NeuroOncology in the USA, and is board certified with the American Board of Pediatrics, and the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health in the UK. Her research training was completed in the Cancer Genomics Program at Baylor College of Medicine, USA. Her research combines genomic methodologies and mouse models to study the complex regulation in the developmental biology of brain tumors.
Her group conducts their research at the Laboratory of Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Office at SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Center, Singapore. The research focuses on the brain tumor microenvironment, particularly in pediatric brain tumors, and translating research findings in tumor biology and genomics to bedside benefits for children with brain tumors. An area of emphasis is the preclinical development of therapeutics for brain tumors using patient-derived brain tumor xenograft modelling. Dr Teo established a competitive laboratory and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Office (PBTRO) at SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre, Singapore, in May 2015. She was awarded the SingHealth @IMCB Program Grant to expand two programs in her laboratory (1) Cell Cycle Therapeutic Development Program for Human Cancers, and (2) Artificial Intelligence Laboratory for Human Cancer Translation.
