Objectives

At the end of the attachment, the fellow will be able to:

  • Manage common childhood neurological disorders and acute neurological emergencies
  • Be familiar with EEG reports and imaging studies
  • Order appropriate tests (metabolic, genetic, electrophysiologic) for suspected neurological disorders

Course Contents

This is a clinical attachment with emphasis on diagnosis, management and treatment of the various paediatric neurology conditions.

Method

Hands on clinical fellowship attachment – credentialing by Singapore Medical Council.

Paediatricians who aspire to sub-specialise in Paediatric Neurology

Pre-requisite

Candidates must be medical graduates from recognized medical schools as determined by the Singapore Medical Council or a degree that can be registered by the Singapore Medical Council.

Duration

​Minimum six months

First three months:

  • Inpatient neurology rounds and consults, outpatient clinics

Other months:

  • Inpatient and outpatient neurology consults. Pending on the need of the fellow, elective rotations to the following facilities can be arranged:
  • Child Development Unit at KKH
  • EEG Laboratory at KKH
  • Diagnostic Imaging Centre (MRI/MRS) at KKH
    Neuorophysiological Laboratory at the National Neuroscience Institute

Certificate of fellowship at the end of the attachment

Positions/Training Places

One to two fellowship training positions will be given for a given duration

Candidates should be self-funded or have funding from external sources/institutions
