Sample must be collected between 7am to 10am and transport immediately on ice to laboratory (within 1 hour from sample collection time).

Laboratory Specimen handling Procedure
1) Spin down the whole blood
2) Transfer plasma into pilot tube and capped lightly
3) Ensure aliquot carry same CPOE label/ patient identifiers label as primary tube

If transport unable to reach SGH by 3 hours from sample collection
1) Freeze the plasma at -20OC
2) Send frozen plasma and primary tube on ice pack with note "Sample is frozen at -20OC and sent on ice".
3) Ensure sufficient ice pack to keep sample frozen during transport
4) If possible to transport to reach SGH before 11am.
