Specimen Container
Blood, bone marrow: EDTA tube

Body fluid: EDTA tube

CSF: Transfix media (preferred), EDTA tube

Tissue: RPMI media

Both Transfix media and RPMI media to be obtained from DPLM Client Services using
MEMO FOR SPECIMEN MEDIA before procedure)

Note to Client Services staff: To obtain the RPMI media from Cytogenetics lab.
Specimen Requirement
 

3 mL blood or bone marrow
1 mL body fluid
1 mL CSF
Tissue Biopsy collected in media should be dispatched out as soon as it is collected

Please indicate clearly the test required (refer to additional information below) and
include the pertinent clinical history.  
Specimen Storage/Transport

Specimens shall be dispatched to the laboratory immediately for send out on the day
of collection (Monday to Friday) to minimise cellular degradation. Specimen in EDTA
tube will need to be sent to SGH on the same day.


Should specimen be expected to arrive late (after 3pm), please inform Client Services
so that transport can be arranged.


Specimen should NOT be collected on Sat/Sun, eve and Public Holidays.
