Orthopaedic Surgery

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides a comprehensive range of specialised care for musculoskeletal conditions and injuries in children. Working with a multidisciplinary team, the surgeons use the most advanced and innovative approaches and techniques to treat these conditions.

Children’s Orthopaedic Conditions treated:

  • Fractures and musculoskeletal trauma of the limbs and spine.
  • Scoliosis (curved spine), back pain, torticollis and other paediatric spine conditions
  • Foot deformities such as flatfoot and bunions
  • Clubfoot (congenital talipes equinovarus) and its treatment by the Ponseti method
  • Sports injuries of the elbow, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle
  • Hip conditions such as developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), Perthes disease, and slipped capital femoral epiphysis
  • The orthopaedic manifestations of neuromuscular conditions like cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and muscular dystrophies
  • Limb length differences (LLD) and angular deformities of the limbs
  • Hand problems such as trigger finger, polydactyly (extra thumb or finger) or syndactyly (fused fingers)
  • Musculoskeletal infections and tumours
  • Conditions related to bone fragility such as Osteogenesis Imperfecta ( Brittle Bone Disease)
  • Surveillance of physiological conditions such as knock-knees, bow-legs, and in-toeing (pigeon-toed gait)

We run specialist clinics for children from Mondays to Fridays.

Our surgeons accept referrals from general practitioners and government polyclinic doctors. Patients may also call in directly for an appointment.
