SSMC

Here at Singapore Sport and Exercise Medicine Centre @ KKH (SSMC@KKH), we strive to provide the highest quality of care to women, children and adolescent patients. SSMC@KKH was established in 2007 and since then, we have been specialising in exercise prescription, fitness assessment and physical activity counselling, just to name a few. We truly understand the big and the small peculiarities related to our patients’ body composition, injury patterns, health and fitness goals. Our specialised Sports Optimisation Programme (SOP) deals with the management and prevention of sport and exercise related injuries for our young non-carded athletes. SSMC@KKH also conducts regular exercise programmes focusing on gross motor and fundamental movement skills for children aged 5 to 9 years. Should you or your child have any form of sports, exercise or health related issues, or would like to work towards a weight and/or fitness goal, do contact SSMC@KKH to schedule an appointment for a thorough assessment and management plan.

Announcements 16 preschools establish a new service model to identify developmental, growth and oral health needs in children from 2 months old. Model to expand to more preschools Ella1 was enrolled as an 18-month-old playgroup (PG) student at a PCFSP at Punggol in October 2022. After a few months, as part of routine monitoring based on a surveillance checklist developed by MIP2, educators noted that compared to her peers, Ella was not communicating verbally and played alone. While Ella was able to follow instructions, she was unable to express her needs verbally. Typically, such behaviours may have been attributed to her young age and gone unidentified until they worsen. However, under the MIP2 service model and the guidance of the School Child Development Unit (SCDU), Ella was identified to be at risk and require low levels of support for developmental needs based on the MIP2 service model.
