Allied Health Outpatient Guide

Welcome to our Information page for Allied Health Outpatient Clinic patient visits. This section is intended to help you be better prepared for your visit.

Before your visit

Q. How do I prepare for my appointment?

A. Please check the SMS appointment booking or reminder to confirm the location for your appointment. From December 2020, some outpatient services (such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Therapy) have been relocated to KKH Rehabilitation Centre@National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS).

Please come 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment time for registration. Your appointment may be re-scheduled to a later available timing or another day if you arrive more than 15 minutes into your scheduled therapy session.


Q. What are the documents to bring for my first appointment?

A. Please bring along your:

  1. Identification documents
    • NRIC/Birth Certificate (for children under 15 years old)
    OR
    • Entry/Re-entry Permit/Employment Pass/Dependent Pass/Work Pass/Student Pass/Visit Pass or any other identity document of your nationality.
  2. Referral letter from your Specialist Outpatient Clinic doctor, if any.
  3. Your child’s health booklet.
  4. Any prior medical reports/results, investigation results and images relevant to your medical condition.
  5. Baby Bonus card/MSW memorandum (if any)
  6. Medical Benefits Card/Hospitalisation Identity Card (HIC) if your employer has signed an agreement/ letter of guarantee (LOG) with KKH
  7. Letter of guarantee from the National Blood Centre for blood donors and their nominees
  8. Letter of guarantee from your employer/ insurance company certifying that your bill will be settled


Q. What are the documents to bring for my subsequent appointments?

A. Please bring along your:

  1. Identification documents
    • NRIC/Birth Certificate (for children under 15 years old)
    OR
    • Entry/Re-entry Permit/Employment Pass/Dependent Pass/Work Pass/Student Pass/Visit Pass or any other identity document of your nationality.
  2. Baby Bonus card/MSW memorandum (if any)

Q. What are the things/attire to bring for my appointment?

A. As the clinic rooms are air-conditioned, you may wish to bring a jacket/sweater for the appointment.

Please bring your own oxygen and/or suctioning unit if your child has one and requires its use while waiting for the therapy session/ dietetics consultation.

Patients on Physiotherapy sport classes, please come with your sport attire.

Patients on Hydrotherapy, please come with your swimming attire.


Q. How Do I Get to KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH)?

A. KKH is situated at the junction of Bukit Timah and Kampong Java Roads. Only 5 minutes from Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD), the hospital is easily accessible via major expressways linked to different parts of Singapore.

During your visit

Q. What to expect during your session?

A. You can refer to the below sessions for information:

Dietetics Consultation

Occupational Therapy Session

Physiotherapy Session

Speech Therapy Session


Q. Which Therapists/ Dietitians will I See?

A. Depending on your referred condition(s), a Therapist/Dietitian will assess your case. Patients may receive care from a different Therapist/Dietitian for subsequent visits. Please be assured that patients receive the same quality of care regardless of which Therapist/Dietitian they see.


Q. Are other siblings/ caregivers allowed to attend the therapy session?

A. For the safety of your child/ children, we would advise that care arrangements be made for your child’s siblings, and that they do not attend the appointment with the patient. Due to space constraints, we may need to restrict to only one caregiver to attend the session with the patient.

If your child is unwell, please reschedule your appointment. If you or your child’s accompanying caregiver is unwell, please arrange for an alternative caregiver to accompany your child to the therapy session.


Q. How long will my therapy session take?

A. The therapy session generally takes between 45 minutes to 75 minutes, except for Hydrotherapy that is 15 minutes. The length of your session may be adjusted according to you/your child’s needs and fatigue level.


Q. What if I am late for my appointment?

A. Your appointment may be re-scheduled to a later available timing or another day if you arrive more than 15 minutes into your scheduled therapy session.
