One teaspoon or about 10mm3 of stool in a clean leak-proof container with a tight-fitting lid.
Specimen Storage/Transport

If it is not possible to despatch the stool sample to the laboratory within the same day, the sample should be kept at 2-8 degrees in the refrigerator.

1) Stool mixed with transport media, preservative or urine is unsuitable for testing.

2) The Pancreatic Elastase 1 concentration may be lowered in watery stool. In the event of pathological results for watery stool samples, confirmation testing, using formed stool samples, is suggested.
