Having completed my undergraduate medical education at Imperial College, I stayed on in London to pursue postgraduate specialist training in Paediatrics. I subsequently moved to Bristol to commence subspecialty training in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine. The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, where I was primarily based, has an active programme in paediatric cardiac surgery, acute care transport and medical simulation. During this time, I was able to be involved in the care of children with complex congenital heart diseases, as well as participating in the delivery of clinical teaching using simulation.
To further develop my interest in clinical care in resource-poor settings, I also completed a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
