Profile

Dr Geetha was working under the Ministry of Health in Oman for 16 years and left as a Specialist in 2008. She joined the Department of Neonatalogy at KK Women's and Children's Hospital in October 2008.

She commenced her Advanced Specialist Training in Paediatric Medicine in May 2011 and had successfully exited in May 2013. Soon after that she was enrolled into the Advanced training in Neonatology and exited successfully in July 2014, thus obtained dual certification in Paediatrics and Neonatology. She was promoted as Senior Consultant with effect from November 2022. She became a Fellow with the Academy of Medicine Singapore since 30 April 2018.

Her sub-specialty interests include:

  • Newborn airway and Ventilator management
  • Chronic lung disease in preterm babies
  • Management and follow up of late preterm babies.

She runs a clinic for late preterm babies once every 2 weeks. She follows up on all these babies till they reach 2 years of life. Her main interest is to assess for developmental delays and their nutrition and growth. She also runs a neonatal jaundice clinic.

  • At present involved in the research project - Protocol Title: Evaluation of usefulness of a prediction tool for estimation of chronic lung disease in preterm ELBW neonates : A retrospective audit CIRB Ref: 2016/2092
  • Working on the study of mortality incidence and trends in NICU over 10 years.
  • Planning to start project on delayed clamping in preterm babies and do a study on their outcomes.
