Profile

Dr KT Tan is a Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital who has had more than 30 years of experience.

She graduated locally with a M.B.B.S degree in 1987 and attained her membership in the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (M.R.A.C.O.G) as well as Masters of Medicine in O&G (M Med) from National University of Singapore in 1993. She received her Specialist Accreditation in O&G from the Ministry of Health Singapore as well as her Fellowship in Academy of Medicine (F.A.M.S) in 1998. She has been a Senior Consultant in O&G in KKH since 2004.

Dr Tan has vast experience in managing a myriad of obstetric and gynaecological conditions. She believes in providing a holistic care for all her patients and champions for patient safety in every situation. She has managed many challenging antenatal cases and has one of the highest obstetric patient load in KKH. She regularly receives compliments from many of her patients.

As testament to her exemplary service and dedication to her work, Dr Tan has received numerous Singhealth Quality Star and Gold Awards, and consistently won the “Service From The Heart” Awards over the years. She received her 30 year Long Service Award in 2019.

In addition, Dr Tan constantly keeps herself up to date with the latest guidelines and practices. She always seek to improve patients’ care in every aspect. She is also a strong advocate for learning and education, and enjoys teaching and imparting her wealth of experience to residents and junior colleagues.

Apart from her clinical work, Dr Tan has also published papers in both local and international peer-accredited journals. She has also co-authored several internationally published textbooks for both medical professionals and patients alike. One of the books “Practical Obstetrics and Gynaecology Handbook for O&G Clinicians and General Practitioners 2nd Edition” has won the Best Seller and Most Commended British Medical Association (BMA) medical book award in 2015. She has also co-authored “The New Art & Science of Pregnancy & Childbirth” published in January 2008 for patients who are starting their pregnancy journey.
