KKH Health Fund: Sub-Funds

Synonym(s):

Kidz Horizon Appeal Sub-Fund
Established in 2004 by a group of like-minded friends, the Kidz Horizon Appeal attends specifically to the medical needs of the most vulnerable in the society, such as needy children with chronic illnesses, by raising funds and volunteering towards the KKH Health Fund. The appeal has helped more than 600 needy patients alleviate their financial burden for their families and allowed them to concentrate on helping their loved ones get better.

Make a gift to Mental Health Sub-Fund
Recent studies reveal a concerning trend in Singapore's youth mental health, with nearly one-third of young people aged 15-35 reporting persistent negative emotions, and a similar proportion of adolescents showing clinical symptoms of depression or anxiety. In response, the Mental Health Sub-Fund was established under the KKH Health Fund. This sub-fund aims to complement the government's efforts to prioritise mental health diagnosis and treatment by supporting projects that improve mental health and wellness outcomes, addressing the urgent and growing mental health challenges.

Make a gift to the Premmies Fund
KKH is the largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit facility in Singapore. Every year, KKH cares for families of premature babies who are unable to afford the cost of giving their babies a chance to live and thrive. The NICU becomes these babies' home for two to seven months, with hospitalisation costs that can exceed $15,000. Beyond that, families must also manage the costs of specialised formula milk, breast pumps, oxygen monitors, and other essential equipment — adding to an already overwhelming financial burden.

Having experienced this journey firsthand as a father of a premature baby, Mr Tan Chin Hwee set up the Premmies Fund in 2009 within the KKH Health Fund, knowing deeply what these families go through. The Fund exists so that families can focus on being there for their babies, rather than worry about their finances. You can help give every premature baby — regardless of their family's circumstances — the full chance they deserve to grow, go home, and thrive.

Being in a hospital can be discomforting even for adults. Paediatric patients may feel even more fearful when hospitalised. To help calm them and provide a therapeutic methodology to coping with the hospital experience, KKH’s qualified child life therapists deliver coping strategies and techniques through play. The programme makes use of story-telling, games and art and craft to ease fears and assist in managing good patient outcomes. The hospital is able to provide this targeted and meaningful programme to patients at no cost, only due to the generous support of donors.

Make a gift to Needy Patient sub-fund
Every year, thousands of women and children patients walk through the doors of KKH hoping for a healthier future. Some find that hope marred by heavy financial concerns, making it difficult to focus on recovering fully. The KKH Needy Patient sub-fund supports patients in need by providing financial assistance for their medical needs. This is done to alleviate their financial burdens so that these patients can focus solely on their healing journey. Come and support them on their journey of recovery by giving today.

Make a gift to the Patient Support Group Sub-Fund
Healing is about more than medicine. At KKH, more than 25 patient support groups provide patients and their families with the community, knowledge, and emotional resilience they need to navigate their healthcare journey. From peer support sessions and caregiver workshops to inclusive activities and psychosocial programmes, these initiatives play a vital role in improving health outcomes — yet many fall outside the scope of regular hospital funding, as they fall outside the standard model of care.

The Patient Support Group Sub-Fund was established to ensure these essential programmes can continue to reach every patient and family who needs them, across all specialities to enrich patients’ understanding of their conditions, improve their quality of life, and enhance their mental wellbeing.
